Super Savings Saturday

Went shopping at both Fred Meyer and Winco today. I spent a GRAND TOTAL of 81.22 between the two stores.
At Fred Meyer I was able to get all of the above for $35.19.
The salad was marked down and I had coupons for $1 off each bag. I also had free product coupons for one of our "date nite" pizza's and the Jello Temptations. Actually, every single thing I had coupons for. :)
I will use the Lean Cusine for Fend for yourself nights and/or lunchs and the napkins and baby wash are for a baby shower this week.

Winco was great.. It was quite, not too many people. I guess it's generally like that when you go early enough in the morning :) My total at Winco was $46.03.

I was able to stock up on mushrooms and outmail, lots of vegis and fruit. Bread dwas a good buy this week also.
All in all I think I was able to do really well for my family. How did you do?

The color is a perfect match for my skin and I can't even tell I am wearing makeup! I LOVE IT!! Hands down this is the BEST foundation I have ever tried.

Cleaning Tips: Works For Me Wednesday!

With it being spring.. (some days) here are a few of my favorite cleaning tips:

1) To clean the microwave easily, put a cup of vinager in it and run for about a minute, the steam will "melt" everything off and make it easy to wipe down.

2) Wipe up spills on the flat top stove AT ONCE.. don't wait.. But if you do.. a razor blade will help get off the dried on gunk. And a paper towel!

3) Car wax on the inside of the shower door will help keep it sparkly clean!

4) Wipe out your dishwasher, along with your other appliances, at least once a month. A mixture of baking soda and water works wonders and keeps everything smelling nice!

Super Savings Saturday.. LIGHTS OUT

So just as I sat down at the computer yesterday to tell you all about the FABULOUS deals I found.. the Power goes out. I call the power company and after being on hold for 5 plus minutes I am told they have a transmission line down and NO ETA as to when it will be fixed. And apparently it is affecting a large portion of the valley I live in.
So.. out come the cards.. My hubby and I start playing gin rummy. After a hand is played, in walks the 13year old. "Whatcha doing?" "Playing rummy."  Long story short, he asks to play, we teach him and even after the lights come on the 3 of use play for another 2 hours! Great family time!!!... NOW on to the Deals!

Grand total this week $46.42 for all of the above!
Winco had some great deals.. and I was all over them. Remember the $1 off coupons I got from my doctors office that were good for any size, not brand specific? Well with them I was able to get oatmeal for $.48each, the fish fillets for $1.48 each, 1 gallon of milk was $1.48, the salad mix was $.48 and $1 off on the chicken breasts!
I also had a free product coupon from Tony's pizza after having contacted customer service about a concern we had with their product. All in all .. Not a bad week.. How did you do?

Kindle update

As you all know, I love my Kindle. I take it everywhere. I am still learning all the wonderful features it has and Amazon has just announed a new one!  Library Lending for Kindle Books  Thanks Amazon for making a great product even better! (All opinons expressed are mine, but if you do enter Amazon thru a link on Ronni's Resources, I receive about about 4% of purchases.)

Organizing stickers..

I love to scrapbook. Thus, I have lots of scrapbooking supplies. I found myself overwhelmed with stickers for scrapbooking. I was looking for a paticular sticker to use for a project, couldn't find it, so I settled for something else. The project turned out fine, but I was frustrated.

I expressed my frustration to my mom (bless her), I told her I wanted some accordian files to organize my stickers in. Mom told me that in an accordian file, small stickers would fall to the bottom and I would lose them anyway! The more I thought about this the more I realized she was right!

Mom suggested a 3 ring binder, with 8.5x 11 clear plastic page protecters. Then I could take a sheet of white paper and use it to make a "front and back."  So I did:

Each page has like stickers in it. In otherwords, all the Disney stickers ar together, all the number stickers together.

Every page has a theme.

While I was organizing the stickers, I came upon some I didn't remember I had, some I had forgotten about and some I was excited to use in my next project. How do you organize stickers?

Happy Saturday to you!
I was given some really great coupons at my doctors office yesterday and boy did they help stretch my budget! And I haven't even used all of them! They were $1 off coupons - no specific product - example $1 off milk, but it could be a 1/2 gallon or a gallon, didn't matter, $1 off wheat bread, no size requirement etc.
Again, I didn't use all of them, but since they expire 4/30 I will be using the rest next week:
I spent $15.85 at Fred Meyer for the above items. The ALL, milk, cheese and salad I used the $1 off coupons. The milk was on sale for $1.25 per 1/2 gallon so I only paid $.25!!
The cheese was on sale for $3.99, with my $1 off = $1.50/lb for 2 lbs!
The salad was BOGO at $2.99 with a $1 off coupon and I had another $.50 coupon from a couple of weeks ago Sunday paper!
Cereal was 4/$10 with a $4 off 4 in ad coupon. I also had manufactures coupons from Sunday papers for $1/2 General Mills cereals!
My indulgence.. red licorice or Twizzlers .. either or I love them both! So happens, this week Twizzlers were on sale for 2/$3, and I had a $1.50 off 3 coupon! I bought 3 packages.
I really do feel blessed to find so many deals! What did you find this week?

Square Foot Garden - planted

Last week Julie and I planned our garden all out. Then on Saturday we prepared the soil by cleaning out plants left over from last year (tomato) and a few onions that had stayed in the ground all winter and reseed themselves this spring. (we transplanted them.)

We then added a bag of compost to the soil and mixed it in and aerated the soil really well. When that was done, we laid out our grid again with new string. (Sorry, no picture) and then proceeded to plant. Since it is only mid April, we didn't plant everything, but we did get 3/4 of the garden in. We planted beans, peas, lettuce, chard, beets, radishes and carrots.

When all was planted according to our map, we covered the bed with a crop cover. This will protect the garden from birds, animals, weather and such. You can water the garden through it and sun comes through also.

Free Measuring spoons!

OXO is giving away Free Measuring Spoons! Use these cool measuring spoons to make all your baking fun!

Works for Me Wednesday

Last year my friend Julie and I decided to do a garden together. We made a Square Foot Garden (SFG). It was fun and fruitful. This year we have embarked on our second garden together.
This year was easier all around. We have learned from last year, what worked, what didn't and what we will or won't do this year.

Today's post focuses on planning. Our garden is 24 square feet. 6x4. The first thing we did was to decide what crops we wanted to have again and what we didn't want to do. This only took us a few minutes to do as we had been talking about it all winter. We knew we wanted peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, peas and beans for sure.

Next thing was to map out the plots. Each square gets its own crop. (Some crops get 2 squares). Some crops do better (or worse) next to other things. so we made our grid:

The numbers you see under each crop title indicate how many of each seed or plant goes in each square. We will be growing the beans, tomatoes, cukes and zucchini all vertical. (more about that later.)

We also had to decided what plants could go just inside the vertical plants. (For our garden the vertical row will be the left side and the top according to the above grid). Planting in row 2, (the 2nd from the left where the beans are) took extra thought. Since Row 1 is growing up, it will be hard to reach Row 2, especially from the far right side. Therefore, we chose to plant plants there that had longer growing seasons.

So that is our plan. Enjoy.

Super Saving Saturday.. Pear Blossom Post

Today was the Pear Blossom 5K and 10K run thru our valley. I helped out by working on the medical team/first aid stations. Luckily noone needed our assistance! Watching all the runners did inspire me to think (strongly) about getting in better shape to run the 5k next year!

After words, I went grocery shopping. Let me tell you I scored there too! I went to both Fred Meyer and Winco.

I was able to get all of the above pictured items, (and some not pictured) for $62.62. This included 60 flower bulbs for planting this week. ( I am excited about that!)
I feel blessed to be able to find good bargins and use coupons to stretch my food dollars to feed my family for less.

Deal of the day

Today's Photo Deal of the Day is buy 5 get 5 folded cards Enjoy!

As you know I received my Kindle this past week. I did get the Kindle 3G with free 3G and Wi-Fi.  (see image on left).

I specifically got the more expensive version because I wanted the 3G. I want to be able to download books wherever I am and not have to wait or look for a wi-fi hot spot. Or download to my computer and then transfer. So I paid a bit more for the convenience. But it was worth it to me.

As far as using the Kindle. I literally could use it out of the box, I opened it, plugged it in and was able to download immediately. I like the ease of turning pages. the font size is easy to read and the contrast is great.. no eye strain. I also like how light weight the kindle is.

I have only had my Kindle for a week.. but So Far, So Good. I will do another review when I have used it for awhile.

Once again I am posting late.. Sorry.. I worked yesterday. When working on a Saturday I sometimes find when I get home it is hard to get stuff done. I just want to sit! Gee, imagine that! Anyway.. I did GREAT yesterday. I found some fabulous bargins and I am ready to tell you all about them.

At Fred Meyer I was able to get the following for just $23.45 AND double rewards points!
The cereal was on sale for 3/$5 and I had a $1 off on 1 coupon, making it $1.33 per box. My target is $1.50, so I did great.
The pizza (our staple for date nights was $2 each and I had $1 off coupons.. making them $1each.

The cheese, also with instore coupon,  was only $3.50 for 2 lb block.

Twizzlers were on sale for 3/$5 and I had a $1.50 off when you buy 3, making my total $3.50.

Red vines were on sale for $1 each and I got 4 of them. (again.. our little treat for date night)

Budget Gormet dinners on sale for $.89. Great for my lunches at work

My best deal of the day however was the AXE bodywash. It was on sale for $3.79. I had a BOGO coupon. and a Fred Meyer catalina that I had gotten for an addtional $2 off, this made it $1.79 for 2 bottles! (or .89 each!) YEAH!

Winco was my 2nd (and last stop) only spent $54 here. I actually didn't have any coupons to use. But $54 is great for a week's worth of meals for the 3 of us. Also, I was stocking up on a few things like salt, bread crumbs and parmesan cheese.
