This week's coupons

Aren't coupons wonderful? Today there was a lot of coupons I am excited to combine with sales in the next few weeks.

From today's Red Plum insert I will be using the Rhodes bread and cinnamon coupons, the $1 off Bayer asprin, and the $1 off Bar-S smoked sausge.

Sara Lee had lots of coupons in the Red Plum also, $.65 off whole grain breads and $.55 off wheat bread along with $1 off any Sara Lee frozen dessert- I'm saving this one for Thanksgiving :)

Smart Source had a whole bunch of great coupons also.
I like the Finish Power Ball, General Mills cereal and La Victoria coupons. Some of my other favorites are the $2 of any exlax product, $1 off Bear Creek soup mix, and the BOGO on AXE shower gel.

I will also be waiting for Fred Meyer to do the 10/$10 on Barila Pasta so I can use the $1 off on 2 coupon.

What did you find to use today?

Super Savings Saturday

Hello!

This week's shopping went well, even with 3 extra mouths to feed. My daughter in law and I went shopping and we were able to pick up a few great deals at Fred Meyer this week.

We got $25 worth of Halloween candy and with the coupons I had from the last few Sunday's I only paid $14 for the candy AND got a catalina for $5 off my next order. Wondering what I am going to do with 11 bags of candy? Well I will use some for Halloween and some will stay in the freezer and I will tuck into Christmas Stockings.

We also got my granddaughter some socks, BOGO and I had an reward coupon from Freddy's for an additional $3 off apparel. Grand total for socks.. 4.99 for 16 pairs :).

Cereal was also 2 /$5 and I had $1 when you by 2. So I picked up a few more boxes. Easy snacks for the 13 and 5 year olds :)

All in all, we spent $87 and my out of pocket was only $47.34. I call that a good day.. and my DIL was impressed! (I think I was able to show her a few tricks!)

Staples Deal worked!

So everything got put away before I could take a picture, but I went to Staples today to get free after rebate batteries. So here's how it went.

I had a coupon that came in my email for Staples for $5 off a $5 purchase and I also had a coupon for $5/25 purchase plus I had 2 $.50 off coupons from Sunday's paper for Duracell batteries. So armed with my coupons, I went looking for batteries and something to equal another $5.

I got the 2 packages of batteries, $9.99 each ($19.98)
Found the graph paper my 13 year old needs for math. ($1)
and 2 sets of notecards w/ envelopes ($2 each) that I put into the gift box.
The cashier let me use all the coupons in a single transaction!

Grand total AFTER coupons: $18.98! And I will get $19.98 back in rebates!! Sweet deal!!!

Works for Me Wednesday!

Christmas lists…
I know it’s early, but you can never be to early when it comes to saving money.
With Christmas only 67 days away, I am pulling out my lists.
I have a list of all immediate family members I need to do gifts for, lists of the extended family members (This year we have my sister Jen and her family). Lists of friends/co-workers that need remembering, Christmas card list and my pumpkin bread list!

I break each list down by categories.
Under Immediate family, I list my hubby, 3 sons, and 1 daughter in law and granddaughter.
Underneath each name, I write down ideas that I have for what they want/need and write down the things I have already gotten to give to them.
Same goes for all the other categories.

My card list I make sure all addresses are updated and if I need to add anyone to the list (or delete L ) Then it’s ready to go when I write my Christmas letter 1st of December.

My pumpkin bread list is long... basically I make around 100 mini loaves of pumpkin bread Thanksgiving weekend and freeze it. I then make a list of neighbors, church member’s friends, family, the mailman, teachers etc and make sure I have enough loaves to give 1-2 loaves each. I also have enough stashed to take to potlucks or office parties!

I keep my lists up to date. If I hand out loaves of bread, I cross the person off, if I find something different for someone I update, if I purchase something I note that and I also note where I hid the present J that’s for my kids!

I keep my lists in a small notebook in my purse and always take it with me.

Lists! It’s what works for me!

Works for Me Wednesday- Healthy Eating

Eating Healthy, for Less
If you are like me you are constinatly trying to find the best/healthiest ingredients without going over budget. Here a few tips to help you save money on groceries:
Tip #1: Plan your meals. Making a menu of what meals you will be having each night will not only saves you stress and time throughout the week, but will also come in handy when it’s time to hit the aisles of the grocery store.  Make a menu, make sure you have all the ingrediants, and that leads us to tip 2:
Tip #2: Make a list. When you have a list of items you actually need, you won’t wonder off to other purchases. Stick to the list. Yes, if TP is on a great sale but not on your list you don't really need it do you? ( I try to leave a little wiggle room each week so that if I do see a great sale for something not on my list, I can go ahead and get it.) BUT, you will save time and money if you stick to the list!
Tip #3: Find a sale. All supermarkets provide sale items, and most of these stores advertise their sales in newspapers, or online. After your create your shopping list, head online, or browse through your circular to see if there are any discounts on your items. Don’t be ashamed to cut coupons, it’s free money. Check with your supermarket to see if they provide discount savings cards. Fred Meyer does this and they have sent me LOADS of free coupons just for having a rewards card!
Tip #4: Never go food shopping on an empty stomach. This is more of a cardinal rule for anyone wanting to stick to their budget. Hungry + endless aisles of groceries = mountains of food in your shopping cart. Try to eat a small snack or drink a tall glass of juice before stepping into a food store. This alone will save you money.
Tip #5: When you get to the store, shop the perimeter first. Most food stores carry their healthiest items around the perimeter. Think about it, you have your produce, all your dairy products, and your meat or poultry. Get these items completed first before moving into the middle aisles, where most of the pricey processed foods are.
And That's what Works for ME!
