Today's Tidbits-- saving berries

I got this tip from a friend about saving berries:

Berries are delicious, but they're also kind of delicate. Raspberries in particular seem like they can mold before you even get them home from the market. There's nothing more tragic than paying $4 for a pint of local raspberries, only to look in the fridge the next day and find that fuzzy mold growing on their insides.
Well, with fresh berries just starting to hit farmers markets, we can tell you that how to keep them fresh! Here's a tip I'm sharing on how to prevent them from getting there in the first place:
Wash them with vinegar.

When you get your berries home, prepare a mixture of one part vinegar (white or apple cider probably work best) and ten parts water. Dump the berries into the mixture and swirl around. Drain, rinse if you want (though the mixture is so diluted you can't taste the vinegar), and pop in the fridge. The vinegar kills any mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the surface of the fruit, and voila! Raspberries will last a week or more, and strawberries go almost two weeks without getting moldy and soft. So go forth and stock up on those pricey little gems, knowing they'll stay fresh as long as it takes you to eat them.

Works for Me Wednesday

Just a quick tip:

Store umbrellas standing up. If you don't have an umbrella stand, don't worry. Wicker or wire-mesh trash baskets can function perfectly well as umbrella holders. You want something that allows for air circulation around the umbrellas so that they can dry.

Works for me Wednesday- Solar Lights!

Ever had the lights go out due to a storm or other power outage? Instead of scrambling for around in the darkness, looking for matches, candles, flashlights, etc, look outside.
Do you have solar lights? Maybe you should.

There are all types of solar lights available. Stick the solar light pipes into plastic drink bottles and they make the nicest, brightest, safest, lighting you could ever imagine. Use them all over your yard, deck etc and when there is a outage, bring them inside and put them in plastic bottles. If you need a weight in the plastic bottle to keep them from tipping over, you can put sand, aquarium gravel, etc., whatever you have available.

The next day, you just take your solar lights back outside and they will instantly recharge and be ready for you to use again any time you need them.
That's What works for ME!

Works for Me Wednesday- game closet!

I have decided to focus on different areas of my home this year. (This is gonna be a year long project I can tell!) This week I am focusing on my game closet and try to come up with some sort of plan to straighten it up so that I feel like it is organized. – here are the before photo’s

First I took out all the games, found the box with all the missing pieces and matched them to the correct games.
I took all those decks of cards and made sure they were a full deck and tossed the rest.

Then I taped box corners that needed it and put everything back in in a such a way you can see what games we have now. 1 hour total time and I love the way it looks!
