Day 31! August Challenge Complete!

It's been a busy month, and I have tackled almost every room in my home. Still have 1 1/2 more to go. But  I believe that this has been a very successful month. I have cleaned, purged and re-purposed so many things in my home. It feels great and I am ready for fall and the upcoming holidays.

Here's today's pictures:
These are all "After" pics from the boys closet. I forgot to take "Before" pics- sorry. I tackled this closet in 4 days. - 5-20minutes at a time, small chunks of time, when I had time.
I took everything off the shelves, dusted, replaced and sorted thru some of those books. I am giving some to my granddaughter and some I just love to much to part with :)
The boys had so many coats/jackets that they all didn't fit on the coat rack. Passed on Sunday clothes my boys no longer wear or fit into. And I cleaned off the top of the dresser and gave them some baskets to hold some of their stuff in. I like how it turned out.

I will be taking everything to Goodwill this next week or so, (I'm out of town this weekend) and I will post a picture of how much STUFF I found that we don't need anymore!

MegaSwag Day!

Happy Friday!

Happy MegaSwagDay! Happy Labor day weekend! Hope you are doing something fun, (I am!) and if you are on the computer, don't forget to do some searchs with Swagbucks!

Works For Me Wednesday-- Gift Boxes

In keeping with the "reuse/reduce" theme I've had this month, here is another of my favorite Works for Me Wednesday tips:

Works for me Wednesday 7/27/11

Gift boxes are the biggest money saver I can think of. You buy things on sale, save until there is a need and then use from your stash. I talked about all the great bargains I got here.  Now I have decided I need a “baby gift box.” I don’t have small children at home, but when I see great deals for diapers/wipes etc, I have been known to buy a package or two to put aside for that next baby shower I am invited to.  I also use the $10 of $10 purchase coupons I regularly get from JC Penny’s. I use them to pick up baby outfits on clearance. I then tuck those away also. And that’s what works for me!

Today's Tidbits

Walgreens just introduced a new Facebook app that allows you to print your Facebook photos with the likes and comments included on them. Through September 1, 2012, they are giving everyone five free Facebook Photos.
Just download the app, choose your five photos from Facebook (trying saying that 5 times! LOL!) you want to have printed, and use coupon code FREEWORTHY at checkout. Your total should be $0. You can pick these up at your nearest Walgreens store.

August Challenge... Day 28

Still working in the boys room
I can't believe all the stuff... stuffed into the corners and on the back shelf!
Tshirts my oldest made for his band, back in 10th or 11th grade.. (He's a senior in college now!)
a remote control car with so much dust I couldn't tell what color it was!! (grey LOL!)

Day 26 August Challenge

Spent about 45 min last night in the boys room. ONLY worked on the bottom 1/2 of the closet, (top half is bookshelves) but I feel like I got a lot accomplished!

3 old Scout Shirts

Some outgrown Sunday Suits

Where did these white dress shoes come from??

check out all the empty hangers I found!
couple of old sweaters.

I am getting rid of a lot more than 6 items today, but I really wanted to muck out that closet!

Saturday! Day 25!

Totally on the downhill slop now, just a few days left. I finished the first cabinet in the boys bathroom today!
Today I found a sling and several RIGHT hand splints! Hope someone else can use them!

Friday, day 24

The August Challenge continues, as does the purging of the boys bathroom.
Today I worked on the final shelf in the cabinet.
Really? Where does this stuff come from? I have no idea. That's the great thing about this Challenge, gives you a chance to look and see what you really have (or don't) and what can be used elsewhere!

Happy Friday!

Remember its MegaSwagbucks day. Don’t forget to do all your searches with Swagbucks to earn those digital dollars! I save mine and get Amazon gift cards, which I then save for the holidays!  It’s easy to get at least 3 Swagbucks a day! Do the daily poll, and the NOSO (no obligation, special offers)

How are you doing with the challenge?

Works for me Wednesday-recycled car kit

While cleaning out the boys bathroom, I found several things that I put together to make a first aid kit for my car:

nothing major, the box,  a suture removal kit, some antibactrial gel, first aid spray, bandaids and aspirin. Just a little something for the car that didn't cost me anything! That's what works for me!

August Challenge Day 21

August Challenge continues:

This week I am working on the boys bathroom 1 shelf at a time. I do this because it is easy to come up with a 5-10 min block of time where I can pull everything out on one shelf, sort it and put it back. If I do small chunks of time like this, the job doesn't seem so overwhelming!
Here's the cabinet before:

and after:

I started from the bottom and worked up, 1 shelf a day. Today I did the bottom shelf and got rid of:

I haven't used the bubble bath since my kids were tiny! My yougest is 14! I don't know why I had an EMPTY bottle of sunscreen?? and the rest were so old I don't want them hanging around any more!

How are you doing this week?

Combat Contest!

Ants... don't they just bug you?
Me too. That's why when Combat asked me to review Combat Source Kill Max Ant Bait and Ant Gel I was thrilled!
My package arrived with two boxes, one with the Combat Source Kill Ant Gel and the other with Combat Source kill Max Ant Bait.

The Ant Gel was easy to use. It has a fast killing formula and lasts for up to a month. It kills the ants you see and the ones you don't. I used it under my sink and in the cracks that I figured the ants were coming out of. It can be used both indoors and out. I was very surprised to see the ants disappear and they haven't come back.

I also used the  Ant Bait in cupboards and other out of the way places. The package is child resistant, which is good since I have a 6 year old granddaughter who is very curious! The bait kills the ants without a messy residue. The ants take the bait back to the colony and it destroys the entire colony! I like that it is good for long-term, continuous control.

Now comes the fun part!
Combat would like to award one of my readers with their own box of Combat Ant Gel.
It's easy to enter:

Wednesday Day 15 August Challenge!

Half way there!
How are you doing with purging and decluttering?
I have a big stack of things to take to Goodwill at the end of the month!
Here's today's contribution:

Works for me Wednesday!

A few weeks back when I was going through the hall closet, I found a little bookcase shoved in the back.
I didn't want to get rid of it, but I wasn't sure what to do with it. Then when I was scrapbooking, it was like a light bulb hit me! Vertical storage!

I put the bookcase on my scrapbook table and there! Instant shelving and extra space!

I like how it turned out, what do you think?

Tuesday! Day 14!
