Mega Swag Friday

Just a reminder.. Today is Mega Swagbucks day, where your chance of winning higher value Swagbucks has increased!

Another way I try to maximize my Swagbucks is to meet or beat the daily goal. If I hit the daily goal every day for 7 days not only will I get the daily bonus, but an additional 25 Swagbucks (by the 5th of the next month.) For 14 straight days you get 100 SB + Daily Bonuses, 21 days 200 SB + Daily Bonuses and for the full month 300 SB + Daily Bonuses. This year  have been able to do the full month for January, February, March and May. I didn't hit the full month in April - nor will I in June because of other circumstances. But I keep trying because every little bit helps.

Works For Me Wednesday

Works for Me Wednesdays

A couple of months ago my dishwasher broke. In all the chaos and stress in my life over the last few months I haven't got around to replacing it. (And I might not -for a while.)

But when it died and I had to start washing dishes by hand, I didn't have a dish rack. So I placed a couple of towels on the counter and pulled out the bottom rack from the dishwasher. Voila! Instant dish drainer!

That's what works for me!

TightWad Tuesday

Tightwad Tuesdays

A couple of quick tips today for saving a bit of the green stuff.... (dollars)

1. If you have online banking and free bill pay as I do, take advantage of it. I have saved so much on reordering checks and stamps. Plus only a few minutes every payday to tell the bank who to pay and when to pay them!

2. Turn the air conditioner up or use fans. Having a fan blow across you makes you actually feel cooler.

3. Turn off lights, the TV and the computer when they are not in use. This is a no brainer, but I am constantly reminding the kids t do is. (I sound like my dad!)

4. Get your books and DVD's from the library.Read magazines at the library or online. Your local library can be a great asset and resource.

5.Take advantage of employer 401(k) matches. If your employer matches 401(k) contributions, do everything you can to take full advantage of that match. It's free money!!

Fridays....

It's Friday!

Isn't that great! And to make it even better if you sign up for Swagbucks (thanks for using my referral link) you can be rewarded for things you do anyway!!

Use Swagbucks to search the web and randomly you will be rewarded with "Swagbucks" which are "digital dollars' or points. You can redeem your Swag for all sorts of prizes. My favorite is Amazon Gift Cards. I use them to pay for all those things that aren't in the budget. ( a new game, a new book etc)

It’s easy to get at least 4 Swagbucks a day! Do the daily poll and the NOSO (no obligation, special offers) and use the tool bar. Of course there are lots more ways to earn bucks, searching and watching videos, and looking for swag codes, just to name a few. Have fun!

20 Mule Team Borax review and giveaway!

20 Mule Team Borax recently sent me a box of their product to try. Not being familiar with the product I was anxious to give it a try.

First, I had to figure out what it was. Easy enough, it is a sodium tetraborate, a naturally occurring substance produced by evaporation of water. - usually seasonal lakes.

Next, what does it do? Basically it softens hard water. Well, I don't have hard water so what was I going to do with this? Then I found out is helps clean laundry. Well what could be better than something that will help me clean my laundry!

By simply adding 1/ 2 cup of 20 Mule Team Borax to each load of laundry, I could use less detergent. I like this, makes the detergent stretch out longer! The Borax improves the detergents cleaning power. It also helps stains from being re-deposited back onto clothes.

I am really happy with this product and I will continue to use it. If you are wanting to make homemade laundry soap, this is one of the ingredients you need.

So, 20 Mule Team Borax also sent me free coupons to give to two lucky winners!!!
If you want to try it, just follow the directions on the widget to the side! But hurry this contest doesn't last long!

Borax provided me with a free sample to try and review. However, all opinions and comments are my own.

Works for Me Wednesday

Works for Me Wednesdays

So now that I've had my big yard sale and really purged my home the secret to maintaining the order is  SPACE.

 What is SPACE?

Space is an easy way to remember to keep the clutter down.

S= SORT.   When the mail (or anything else) comes n your home, sort it.                                        file, toss, use etc. Sort it into where it belongs.

P= PURGE. Purge on a regular basis. Do I need it? Do I use it? if not get rid                        of it.

A= ASSIGN. Easy enough. If it belongs in your home, it needs a home. Like
my mom always said.. "There's a place for everything, and                          everything needs to be in its place."

C=CONTAINERIZE. Again, simple concept. Keep things in containers, boxes,
baskets. Whatever it is that helps you find a home for things.
For example in my garage I keep all my Christmas things--                                    in CONTAINERS, easy to stack, store, move and use.

E=Equalize. To me this is the old adage: "one in, one out." If you buy a new                                    dress, get rid of an old dress.

SPACE- works for me!

Tight Wad Tuesday - June Specials!

TightWad Tuesdays
Did you know that you can get really good deals on things during certain times of the year? Well you can if you know when to shop and what to look for.

June is National Dairy Month, so look for specials in the grocery store on dairy items.
Planning on building something? June is also a great time for building materials and hardware.
Also look for deals on Summer apparel and accessories, pianos and TV's.

Friday equals Mega Swag!

As you know, Swagbucks is one of my favorite ways to make a little extra. It's easy and free to do.

You can easily earn $5 per month in Amazon gift cards with almost no effort. However, if you want to earn more in a shorter time period, I highly recommend checking out Swagbucks TV — especially if you spend a lot of time working on the internet every day. You can increase your earnings significantly by watching Swagbucks TV each day while you’re working online — or through their Smartphone apps. All you have to do is sign up (thanks for signing up under my referral link!)
In May I earned $ 40 in gift cards!

Tight Wad Tuesday- May Roundup

TightWad Tuesdays

Welcome back to Tightwad Tuesday's Monthly Round up edition. This is the time of the month when I get to encourage you to think outside the box for ways to financially help your family.

I did something different this month and I held my very first, (maybe the last), yard sale. I've been cleaning and purging this past month and I came up with all this:

A friend of mine suggested I have a yard sale rather than just make multiple trips to Goodwill. So I said why not. So we had the sale and I made $346. After I calculated my time setting up, cleaning up and the sale it self, I made $30 per hour. Not too shabby..

I didn't neglect my other ways to make a few dollars though. (Well not completely...)

Mturk  still didn't get the amount of attention it deserves. I earned $2.21. I spent about an half hour total. I could make a lot more if I really put the time in. Once again I will re-commit myself to really trying to do it more. I like Mturk because I can choose to have my payout in cash to my bank account or deposited into my Amazon account. For May I am choosing to not cash out and roll it into June. I really don't want to cash out till it's about $50. (Right now it's at $31.30.)

Instant cash sweepstakes was a small amount, but for the minutes I put into it, it is worth it. In May I earned $2.80 which is the most I have ever earned in a month. The cash out level is $2 so I will cash it all out. They send it to my Paypal account.

Jingit again was a disappointment to me. I didn't earn anything. Not that there weren't offers, but the offers were for stores I don't normally shop at. Sometimes your TIME is worth more than running around trying to score a deal. Hopefully, June will be better.

Irazoo rewards you points for completing offers, surveys, watching videos, playing games, and other tasks. Points can then be exchanged for gift cards. It takes 3000  points to earn 1 $5 Amazon gift card. Points are fairly easy to earn.  In May I earned 7230 points, cashed out for 2 $5 Amazon gift cards.

Bing rewards   is super easy program in which to earn Amazon gift cards (or other prizes) every month. You start a free account and for every 3 searches using Bing, you earn points. You can earn up to 30 credits per day by searching. They also often give you "daily tasks" which are quick and easy way to earn more credits. My total for May was 1040 credits this is enough for 2 $5 Amazon gift cards.

And of course, my favorite way to earn money is Swagbucks. in May, I earned 3880 Swagbucks, (My all time high.) This month, I have enough for 3 $5 Amazon gift cards, and a $25 PayPal credit.

I also donated plasma one time this month for a total of $15.

My total rewards was $426.11 My time invested was approximately 30 hours. That's $14.20 per hour. I will never get rich doing this stuff...but every little bit helps.

What do you do to make a little extra cash?
