Works for Me Wednesday-- Feeding your skin

Works for Me Wednesdays

Do you want to keep your skin looking and feeling great in the hot weather? You need to "feed it."
While foods don't cause acne, a vitamin rich diet sure can help your skin to be healthier.

You can find vitamin rich foods in carrots, leafy greens (vitamin A) nuts, (vitamin E) beans, whole grains (vitamin B).

Try a salad with kale, leeks, and mustard greens topped with carrots, and sunflower seeds a great way to get all these vitamins.

I try to eat a salad everyday and I also use coconut oil on my skin and hair at night as a moisturizer.

Works for me!

Tightwad Tuesdays- August is coming..

Tightwad Tuesdays
With August starting in just a few days it doesn't hurt to see what is a good deal to look for this next month.

Of course, back to school is first and foremost. Make sure to stock up on paper, pens, folders and anything else your kiddo's (or you!) will need for the next year. It is so nice to be able to go to the cupboard and "shop" from there when the kids run out of supplies! So much cheaper and easier.

Other things to look for good deals on would be BBQ and Patio Equipment, stores will be trying to clear this merchandise for fall goodies.

Breakfast items, and fresh veggies are another thing to keep an eye out for.

Have fun looking for deals in August!

It's time for a giveaway!!!!

Purex Fabric Softener Sheets recently sent me a box of softener sheets to try.  I received the Sweet lavender scent.  The scent was really strong right out of the box, but after using the sheets in the dryer, the scent wasn't as strong. In fact the lingering scent was perfect on my clothes.

I love the Purex Fabric Softener Sheets also reduce static cling and repel pet hair. Besides using the sheets in the laundry, another place I like to use them is in my drawers with my socks and "unmentionables" LOL! They keep everything smelling fresh and clean.

Would you like to try the sweet lavender or maybe the mountain breeze scent for yourself? You are in luck! Purex Fabric Softener Sheets sent me coupons to give away to 3 lucky readers.

Just enter the contest via the widget on the sidebar and good luck!

Purex Fabric Softener Sheets provided me with a sample of Sweet LAVENDER Purex Fabric Softener Sheets. All opinions are my own.

Swagging it..

As you know, Swagbucks is one of my favorite ways to make a little extra. It's easy and free to do.

You can easily earn $5 per month in Amazon gift cards with almost no effort. However, if you want to earn more in a shorter time period, I highly recommend checking out Swagbucks TV — especially if you spend a lot of time working on the internet every day. You can increase your earnings significantly by watching Swagbucks TV each day while you’re working online — or through their Smartphone apps. All you have to do is sign up (thanks for signing up under my referral link!)

Tightwad Tuesday

Tightwad Tuesdays

Do you feel like all you do is open junk mail and then toss it? Instead of tossing it. SHRED IT.
Yeah, invest in a low cost shredder and you can turn all that junk mail into stuffing for mailing packages or gift baskets  or packing fragile items to ship or store. I keep a few grocery bags of shredded junk mail and fill ziplock bags with the shreddings. I then put in the bottom of a gift basket and cover with tissue paper and then my gift basket items.

Apeanuts.gif (22381 bytes)nother idea you can do with those foam package peanuts is to use them in potted plants to help with soil drainage.  Instead of adding the traditional gravel to the lower 1/3 of the planting container, add unused foam packaging peanuts instead.  As a low weight, high volume alternative to potting gravel, you'll find your pots will weigh substantially less, making gardening a little less burdensome.   This volume drainage alternative also helps stretch valuable quality gardening materials for other plants. The insulation properties of the peanuts also help to sustain plant roots during cold winter chills

The holidays are coming!

It's never too early to start saving for the holidays! With that in mind, make sure you do all your internet searching with Swagbucks to earn those digital dollars. Not only do I save mine and get Amazon gift cards, but I also use them to get PAYPAL money. I save my Amazon cards for easy holiday spending at Amazon and it's also nice to have cash in my Paypal account to purchase things I can't get at Amazon!

It’s easy to get at least 4 Swagbucks a day. Do the daily poll, and the NOSO (no obligation, special offers and use the toolbar.

Works for Me Wednesay- looking for tips

Works for Me Wednesdays

I am writing this in hopes that those who read it will share knowledge and experience with me.  I'm trying to save money for a trip to England next year. My new mantra for the next 10 months is :

It is Far Easier to Spend Less Money Than it is to Earn More.
And with this in mind, I am looking for ways to cut expenses, use what I have and save my pennies.

Any suggestions?

Wanna get more bang for your buck?  Try using products for more than just what they where intended for.

Take cereal boxes. You pay a HUGE price for cereal and sometimes I feel like the box is 3/4 full. How about using the box and the liner? You cut up the box and use it as a placemat under messy craft projects or cover with contact paper or old scrapbook paper and make this:

Here's the link on how to do it.

The cereal liners can be used in place of wax paper.
Carefully pull the seams apart and you will have a length of liner paper for cooking, baking, lining shelves. Liners can be cut or torn in to squares and use to cover items placed into the microwave.

And how about those big wide bands you find on bunches of asparagus and broccoli? Save them and use to help you open stubborn jar lids.

Just a couple of tips for us tightwads!

Tight wad Tuesday- July Specials

TightWad Tuesdays
Did you know that you can get really good deals on things during certain times of the year? Well you can if you know when to shop and what to look for.

July is a great month to stock up on sodas, hotdogs, hamburgers and condiments. Craft supplies  and air conditioners can usually be found at a good deal. Summer sports equipment and sportwear are also often found at a discount.

Also, look for tons of paper goods that match the holidays, (i.e. 4th of July) and pick them up after the holiday!

Swag bucks

As you know, Swagbucks is one of my favorite ways to make a little extra. It's easy and free to do.

It's  easy is to get  4 Swagbucks a day! Do the daily poll and the NOSO (no obligation, special offers) and use the tool bar. Of course there are lots more ways to earn bucks, searching and watching videos, and looking for swag codes, just to name a few.

Swagbucks also has a great referral program: you’ll earn matching Swagbucks (buck for buck) for the first 1,000 Swagbucks anyone you refer earns. Obviously, this is a fantastic way to increase your earnings — and one way that has helped me earn quite a few more Swagbucks over the years.

If you try Swagbucks and it works well for you, be sure to share your referral link with your friends or write a post about it on your blog. Don’t keep a good thing to yourself.  up (thanks for signing up under my referral link!)

There are dozens of different gift cards to choose from but I’d recommend going for the $5 Amazon gift cards for 450 Swagbucks each. This is the best deal and you can use an unlimited number of Amazon gift cards per order on Amazon.

That said, you can still earn a decent amount with Swagbucks even if you have no referrals at all.

Garage Sale Treasures!

I love going garage sale'ing with my friend Cristy.

We just like to look, hardly ever buy anything, but once in awhile we come across a treasure.

I found this really nice desk chair for $10!! I was so excited. We've been using a chair that was probably35 years old, uncomfortable, and had rips in it. - oh the back was broken too.

So when I found this chair with only a little scuff..
on the arm, I knew I had to have it..

Like they say, one man's trash.. is another's treasure!

TightWad Tuesday June Roundup

Tightwad Tuesdays

Welcome back to Tightwad Tuesday's Monthly Round up edition. This is the time of the month when I get to encourage you to think outside the box for ways to financially help your family. Keep reading for my favorite ways to make an extra bit of cash.

Something new I tried this month. It's called ibotta.
ibotta is a free mobile app for smart phones (Android and iPhone) that actually lets you earn cash on your purchases. You can learn facts, watch videos and take one question surveys before purchasing a product to earn cash. Once you have purchased the product, you simply take a picture of your receipt showing your purchase of the item. ibotta allows you to earn up to $40 cash per shopping trip. Once you’ve redeemed offers totaling $5 or more, ibotta lets you transfer your earnings directly to your Pay Pal account.  Choose “Withdraw Cash” from the main menu of the app, then select “Get My Cash” to link ibotta to your Pay Pal account.  In June I earned a whopping $15.75!  Took about 30 minutes to pick my products, and scan the barcodes and upload my receipts.

Bing rewards   is super easy program in which to earn Amazon gift cards (or other prizes) every month. My total credits for June was 759. This was enough for 1 $5 Amazon gift card. I probably could have earned 2, but the site was down for several days during the month.

Instant cash sweepstakes was a small amount, but for the minutes I put into it, it is worth it. In June I earned $0.62. The cash out level is $2 so I will roll it over to next month.
Mturk  and I have a love/hate relationship! I love that I can cash out at anytime and that there are a lot of tasks in which to earn money. I hate that I simply don't get on it enough to earn decent money. For June I earned $3.65. I spent about an hour total.  For June I am choosing to not cash out and roll it into July. I really don't want to cash out till it's about $50. (Right now it's at $34.95.)

Jingit was a lot better this month.  With watching videos and actually being able to do some check in's at stores, I earned $1.30 for June.

Irazoo rewards you points for completing offers, surveys, watching videos, playing games, and other tasks. Points can then be exchanged for gift cards. It takes 3000  points to earn 1 $5 Amazon gift card. Points are fairly easy to earn.  In June I earned 5573 points, cashed out for one $5 Amazon gift card and have a nice beginning to July.

And of course, my favorite way to earn money is Swagbucks. In June, I earned 3850 Swagbucks, (My all time high.) This month, I have enough for 4 $5 Amazon gift cards, and a $25 PayPal credit. (That's $45!!!!!)

I also donated plasma one time this month for a total of $15.

My total rewards was $91.32 My time invested was approximately 10 hours. That's $9.13 per hour. I will never get rich doing this stuff...but every little bit helps.

What do you do to make a little extra cash?
